More power, when you want it. The Bosch Performance Upgrade 2.0 is available now, and if you're riding a Cube with a fifth-generation Performance Line CX or CX-R drive system from the 2025 or 2026 model year, you can get it through the eBike Flow app at no cost.

What the upgrade actually does

The fifth-generation CX and CX-R motors are already strong performers across a wide range of riding conditions. The Performance Upgrade 2.0 pushes both significantly further.

Maximum torque goes from 85Nm (CX) or 100Nm (CX-R) up to 120Nm for both motors. Maximum rider support jumps from 340% (CX) or 400% (CX-R) up to 600%. That is up to 40% more torque and up to 76% more support than the standard figures, depending on conditions. Maximum power of 750 watts is also available for longer durations before the system eases back.

The 600% support level operates between 0 and 15km/h, which is where you feel it most on steep or technical terrain. Standard pedal assist behaviour above that remains the same.

On the trail it translates to faster acceleration out of slow corners, a stronger push through technical climbs, and power that sustains itself longer before dropping off. The motor response is sharper too. Bosch's software reads when you need extra thrust and delivers it, then backs off once you are moving well. The ride feels more direct as a result.

Sliders in the eBike Flow app give you control over how this extra performance works across your riding modes. You set torque and support values the way you want them, and Extended Boost is now fully customisable within the app as well.

How to get it

Open the eBike Flow app, connect your eBike and go to the updates section. Your bike needs to be registered in the app first as you won't see the update without that step. Download the update, let the installation run, and your bike will switch off automatically when it's finished. Switch it back on and adjust your settings in the app.

If you have any questions during the process, your local Cube dealer can help.

A note for existing owners

If your Cube eBike is already in regular use, get the drive components checked by an authorised dealer before you install the update. More torque means more load on the drivetrain, and it is worth confirming everything is in good condition first. Bosch also recommends sticking to your service schedule once the upgrade is installed. Higher power levels increase wear over time, so regular servicing matters more than ever.

Which bikes are eligible

The upgrade covers selected Cube eBikes with Bosch Performance Line CX and CX-R drive systems from the 2025 and 2026 model years. Eligible 2026 model year bike series include the Stereo Hybrid ONE22, Stereo Hybrid ONE44, Stereo Hybrid ONE77, Reaction Hybrid, Kathmandu Hybrid and Nuride Hybrid.

If you are on a 2025 model year bike, you can check eligibility through the Cube Bike Archive. Update-ready bikes are marked with a symbol on the Cube website.

Head to cube.eu/bosch-upgrade for the full list and to confirm your bike is included.

What else is new from Bosch in 2026

The performance upgrade is the headline, but Bosch has added a few other things worth knowing about. The new 12 amp charger uses GAN technology for faster charging and weighs just under a kilogram. Trick Check is a new feature that automatically detects jumps, wheelies, manuals and stoppies and logs them in the eBike Flow app. Garmin device compatibility is also new, keeping your ride data in one place.
