What's new with Bosch eBike Systems for 2026

Bosch has put serious work into its 2026 eBike system updates. New motors, sharper software, and a handful of app features that actually solve real problems. Here's a breakdown of what's changed and what it means for Cube e-bikes available through dealers in New Zealand.

Performance Line CX-R

Brand new for 2026, the CX-R sits at the top of the Bosch mountain bike motor range. It delivers 100 Nm of torque and 750 W of power, with a 400% maximum support factor, and was developed alongside professional riders. It comes with a dedicated Race mode for maximum dynamics on technical terrain, and Bosch has used dual high-performance sensors that measure your input up to 1,000 times per second to keep the power delivery precise and natural.

Performance Line CX

The CX is the motor you'll find across much of Cube's electric mountain bike and trekking range in New Zealand, including the Kathmandu Hybrid ONE 800, Stereo Hybrid ONE77 HPC SLX, Stereo Hybrid ONE44, and Reaction Hybrid Pro 800 models. For 2026, the CX gets a Performance Upgrade option: more power, higher torque and a higher support factor than its standard settings. You can switch these on when you want them, or run them all the time, through the custom riding modes in the eBike Flow app. Bosch is upfront that more power means increased component wear and reduced range, so it's your call when and how you use it.

Performance Line PX

The PX is Bosch's motor for trekking and loaded touring — built for big days out with luggage rather than technical trail work. It delivers up to 90 Nm of torque and 700 W of power with a 400% support factor, stays quiet under load, and handles rough weather and heavy packs without complaint. The Cube Touring Hybrid Pro 800 runs this motor, and it's well matched to that bike's rail trail and commuting brief.

Performance Line

The standard Performance Line motor (75 Nm, up to 340% support) covers Cube's more accessible trekking models. It runs a useful Auto mode that reads the riding conditions and adjusts support automatically, so you're not constantly fiddling with settings on a long ride. The Touring Hybrid ONE 600, Reaction Hybrid Performance and Nuride Hybrid Pro 600 use this system.

Performance Line SX

The SX is Bosch's lightest motor — around 2 kg — and is designed for riders who want electric assist without the bulk. It runs up to 60 Nm of torque and 600 W of power, with a high-cadence focus that suits sportier, more natural-feeling riding. You'll find it in the AMS Hybrid ONE44 C:68X, Cube Editor Hybrid Pro and both Nuroad Hybrid C:62 gravel e-bikes, where keeping weight low is a priority.

eMTB+ Mode

A new riding mode for 2026, eMTB+ sits above the existing eMTB mode and is aimed at riders who want more aggressive, dynamic power delivery on technical trails. It's designed to give a sharper, more direct feel when the gradient or terrain demands it, while keeping control predictable.

Kiox 400C Display

New for 2026, the Kiox 400C is a trail-focused integrated display that keeps essential riding data visible without cluttering the cockpit. The Stereo Hybrid ONE77 HPC SLX 800 runs it as standard, and it's built to handle the conditions that come with serious off-road riding.

eBike Flow App

A few additions that are worth knowing about. You can now share your e-bike with up to five people through the app, which makes sense for households where more than one person rides. Battery Lock lets you digitally disable your battery if it's stolen, making it unusable on another bike. The Ride screen now shows a 3D terrain map view, and there's an annual stats overview so you can track your riding across a full year.

ABS and eShift

Bosch eBike ABS and ABS Pro are now compatible with Shimano brakes, which opens them up to a wider range of builds like the Kathmandu Hybris EXC. ABS Pro also gets optimised software and more precise sensor technology for 2026. The eShift automatic gear shifting system reacts faster, shifts more smoothly, and now works with Shimano drivetrains as well as new TRP drivetrain options. A new M+ function adds an automatic mode specifically tuned for trail riding, blending manual and automatic gear selection.
